Midwest Elite 90 Showcase: Best of the Best

Our annual Midwest Elite 90 Showcase once again featured plenty of talented players from across the region. With all the high level of play throughout the drills and six rounds of games, there were plenty of candidates for this list. Here are the players that rose to another level and stood out from the rest. Next up from the showcase we be releasing our superlatives list that will include the best shooters, scorers, defenders, distributors, and more.  

 

Gabi Bednar (2024 Providence Catholic HS): The sophomore was one of the top guards of the camp. Not only did she show a great scoring ability but was distributing just as well. With her handle and quickness Bednar was constantly getting to the basket and finishing in addition to hitting some perimeter jumpers with a smooth stroke. A smart playmaker that sees the floor well and made good decisions with the ball in her hands. Bednar showed a tremendous passing ability too. A complete point guard on the floor. 

 

Allison Hampel (2023 Greenfield HS): Not only was the forward one of the top scorers of the showcase but contributed in many areas. A highly versatile scorer that could not be stopped around the paint but also shot it well spotting up from three and scored on cuts and drives. In the post, Hampel has great foot work and touch to score at a high rate of paint touches. She has good strength and can play big on the floor but also moves well. A tough and active defender that really works to lock down opposing forwards. 

 

Allie Heyer (2023 Fenwick HS): Heyer was one of the top scorers of the showcase with her shot making ability. She has a smooth jumper with deep range and hits them well off both the catch and dribble. The junior has good moves off the dribble to not only create her own shot but also get to the basket. With some size in the backcourt at 5’11” with good length, she was able to get her shot off whenever she wanted. A true three level scorer that was putting up points in bunches at a high percentage.

 

Addie Kimler (2023 Washington Comm. HS): A highly versatile player who was playing with a big motor throughout the showcase. The 5’10” forward is a smart junior that proved to be tough to defend off the dribble. She has good moves with the ball and was often beating defenders but also shot it very well off the dribble in the mid-range. Not only does she have a good skill level and can do a bit of everything but just outworked the opposition. 

 

Aria Mazza (2025 Conant HS): Mazza is a skilled playmaking guard that plays well beyond her years. The freshman has strong handles along with good moves to be able to get into the paint and create. She moves exceptionally well with the ball and can get wherever she wants with the ball. As well to getting into the defense to finish and distribute it out, Mazza proved to be a knockdown shooter spotting up from the perimeter. A smart crafty player with very good guard skiils. 

 

Briley Munchel (2023 Rushville HS): The true floor general was one of the top distributors of the showcase. Munchel showed tremendous vision always scanning the floor looking to create paired with her pinpoint passing ability. Not only did the junior do a great job pushing the ball in transition as well as getting into the defense to distribute the ball. More than just a passer, Munchel shot the ball well from the outside and plays with good energy on the defensive end guarding the ball. 

 

Annalise Pietrzyk (2023 Providence Catholic HS): As always, the ultra-skilled Pietrzyk showed off her great scoring ability. An absolute sniper from deep with unlimited range. Not only can she shoot it well off the catch but did a nice job creating for herself from three as well as in the mid-range. In all three of her games at the showcase, the junior was knocking down threes in bunches. As well to her scoring, she impressed with several nice passes plus battling on the defensive end. 

 

Ashley Schlabowske (2024 Carmel Catholic HS): A true point guard in every sense. While only a sophomore, she is an electric playmaker that was distributing and scoring the ball at a high level. With her court vision and passing ability, Schlabowske was racking up the assist. She is very strong with the ball and always knows where to go with the ball. Schlabowske got to the basket often as well as hitting some perimeter jumpers. 

 

Ada Taute (2023 St. Ignatius Prep): A skilled all-around guard with good size standing at 6’0”. Throughout the showcase, Taute impressed with her ability to shoot, handle, attack the basket, defend, rebound, and more. Not only was Taute one of the top scorers of the showcase but also one of the most efficient. A smart guard that knows how to play. 

 

Elise Ward (2023 Marist HS): The 5’11” small forward is a true do it all player that was a standout on both ends of the floor and has good feel. A tough and versatile defender that sticks very well with the ball plus was one of the better shot blockers of the showcase. With her mobility and length, Ward is very tough to beat off the dribble. The junior scored it well going to the bucket on drives and cuts. A big-time stat stuffer that was getting it done in all areas. 

 

Persais Williams (2024 Bolingbrook HS): Williams is a skilled wing forward that is a standout on both ends of the floor. With her length, athleticism, quickness, and motor, the sophomore showed her defensive ability throughout the showcase locking down opposing guards and wings as well to putting great pressure on the ball. A skilled slasher that got to the basket often and finished everything in addition to hitting pull ups in the mid-range. She is a stat stuffer with her passing skills and hitting the glass hard. Williams was all over the court throughout the showcase making plays.
