2020 Morgan Park point guard, Marcus Watson, committed to Wake Forest and head coach Danny Manning on Tuesday night.  Watson turned a lot of heads over the summer as he lit up EYBL with the Mac Irvin Fire, demonstrating why he is one of the top players in the region, coming in at number 8 in our overall rankings.

Although he's a Chicago native, Watson chose to leave the Midwest picking Wake Forest over Illinois, Valparaiso, Northern Illinois, Green Bay, Oakland, and Chicago State.

Watson had a strong junior season with Morgan Park and, alongside Adam Miller, helped lead them to a Sectional finals appearance, before losing to Bogan.  But Watson’s stock began to rise even higher once the summer season began for him and Mac Irvin Fire. The rising senior lead all of EYBL in assists with 9.5 and finished 5th in steals averaging 2.3.  Watson is great at dictating the offense and loves to get his teammates involved. The guard is extremely quick with the ball and uses shifty moves to get into the paint and collapse the defense before kicking it out to an open teammate.

Wake Forest has not found a whole lot success lately, finishing under .500 in each of the past two seasons.  But with several upperclassmen guards on their roster, opportunities could open up for Watson when he arrives on campus in 2020.
